The History of Collier Lodge

In order to understand the history of Collier Lodge, we have to consider the history of its location.

The hill that the lodge rested on was the only dry land for miles. The Kankakee River used to be the location of "The Everglades of the Midwest," and the marsh was a popular hunting ground. American Indians, French traders, and eventually hunters all relied on the site as a crossing ground.
